Join us in listening to Dr. Moin Nabi, Principal Research Scientist at SAP AI Research on SAP’s research activities around Continual Learning (CL): The recognition systems that are deployed in production often need parameter updates to recognize new objects. For instance, in scenarios such as supermarkets, recognition systems require to integrate new object categories when new products appearing on the market. Continual Learning (CL) aims to develop agents emulating the human ability to sequentially learn new tasks while being able to retain knowledge obtained from past experiences. In this talk, I will discuss about the challenges in CL: 1) maintaining old knowledge while simultaneously benefiting from it when learning new tasks, and 2) guaranteeing model scalability with a growing amount of data to learn from 3) Online learning with strict constraints on the memory overhead. Moin will talk about 2 publications at CVPR and ECCV, and latest, unpublished research work on the topic of CL.
